To start off the second half, Hinson (#8) connects with Nash-Kelly (#2) on a long pass, who takes it 74 yards to the house. Converts for 2 points (18-7). The stadium is practically buzzing with momentum as the Defense quickly gets the ball back in Hinson's hands. Collin leads his team down the field, steadily picking up yards every play and when you move the ball like that, it can only lead to another Round Rock touchdown (25-7). Dragon Defense certainly made the Hawks work for every yard as they take the entire rest of the 3rd quarter just to make it into scoring position. A disheartening missed field goal for Hendrickson leaves RR with nowhere to go but up, marching the ball from deep in their own territory. Hinson takes a keeper across the 50, which is followed by an explosive 30 yard carry by Webber. This leads to another field goal by Parsa (28-7). Defense draws yet another punt, which is quickly followed by White (#20) finding a hole and taking it 40 yards for another TD (35-7). The Hawks have the ball and choose to go for the 4th down conversion deep on their own side of the field. Blowing past his man, Grant Miller (#34) puts the Rock in Round Rock, laying the boom for a HUGE turnover/sack. Dragons capitalize with the easy punch in for 6 (42-7). And because why not more? Corner Derek Thompson (#1) comes out of nowhere and takes an interception over 60 yards to the house. The clock runs out and the Dragons emerge with the well earned victory of 49-7.
One of the main reasons we are able to keep opposing scores so low is because our defense plays with the same level of intensity for the entire game. There is no let up, or late game scares because it seems Rock D has it pretty well figured out how to shut the door and keep it that way. Stay doing what you're doing, boys. Dragon offense consistently finds its rhythm and utilizes every player on the field. Another dominant defensive display accompanied by an intelligent, yet explosive offense shows why The Round Rock Dragons are the 13-6A DISTRICT CHAMPS.
Till next week,
